Kay Bartram Craig
Kay Vaughan-Bartram Craig is a plein-air painter who moved to Savannah, GA from Amelia Island, FL in 2007, when she married childhood friend, Fred Craig.
"The longer I'm here my passion for capturing the moods & beauty of the coastal areas has gone from the eye of the camera to the artist's brush. The tide & marshes are never the same, each time unique in color & substance, each time abundant with creatures great & small, and forever pulling me back to paint again.
Studying Fine Arts at the University of Kentucky, she has worked in photojournalism layout design, stage & scenery design and the Chicago Real Estate scene.
In August 2005, Kay organized "Primary Colors", an exhibit of local Florida artists, held at the Waterwheel Gallery on Amelia Island, FL and in February 2006 planned & chaired "For The Love of Art", a workshop exhibit of students held at The Gallery on Newcastle in Brunswick, GA.
Two exhibits featured her work in 2007. "Gardens, Marshes & Estuaries" at the Left Bank Gallery on St Simons Island, GA and a two-person show at the Waterwheel Gallery on Amelia Island, FL
Kay has studied with Mary Borshard, Mari, Hershal Stallard, Pat Weaver, Bill Maurer, Janet Powers, Tony Van Hasselt, Sue Harden, Perry Austin, Larry Moore, Karen Hewitt Hagan and Ken Wallin.
