Karin Mead

About the Artist:

Karin Mead was born in Berlin, Germany, and lived in Germany through the horrors of World War II and its aftermath, as well as the trauma of escaping from the Soviet Zone to the West. In 1974, she married Alden Mead and moved to the United States, where she is now a citizen. Karin loves to travel, and has become increasingly interested in photograpy. She specializes in unposed photos of children encountered on her trips. Over the years, her collection has grown extensively.

About the Work:

I have always loved children, and for some time I have been interested in photography. The two got combined in 1998, on a trip to the Copper Canyon, Mexico, where I saw some lovely Indian children, whom I photographed. Since then, it has been a passion with me to photograph interesting children, unposed, wherever possible during my travels. The photos are all framed in the same way, in a simple but lovely wooden frame, 19.5 x 15.5, whose brown color reminds me of the earth. All are autographed by me. Any proceeds from sale of these photos will be donated to charity.
