Joyce Weinzettel
Although she enjoyed drawing all her life, Joyce did not begin studying art until the early '90s when she began taking classes at Atlanta College of Art (consolidated with SCAD in 2006) and Callanwolde Fine Arts Center in Atlanta. She studied portrait painting with Comer Jennings and Thomasine Bradford at ACA. She studied for several years at Callanwolde, taking painting, pottery and sculpture.
In 1999 she retired from Emory University as Senior Business Manager in the Department of Surgery, School of Medicine, and returned to her native Savannah in 2001. She studied watercolor and color theory for several years with Rebecca Kahrs Willis and has taken watercolor workshops with Ann Pember, Pat Lusk, Janet Rogers, Elaine Hahn, and Karen Leffell-Massingill. She enjoys working in acrylics, watercolor, pastels and oil. She is a member of the Landings Art Association, the Savannah Art Association, and a member and officer of the Savannah Artists Guild. She is proud to be a volunteer with Hospice Savannah, Inc. Her work is displayed at Studio 4 in the City Market, 309 West St. Julian Street.
